5163 Easy Stop Turning: Knitting & Purling Backwards My favorite knitting trick is to stop turning! If you hate purling, are unhappy with your uneven tension, or simply aren't crazy about flipping that 400-stitch basket-weave afghan around every time it's time to do a WS row, learn the joy of never turning! We will learn how to put the knit stitch and the purl stitch in reverse, as well as learn basic decreases, short rows, and picking up stitches backwards. Knitting and purling backwards is great for entrelac, bobbles, short rows, and chart work.

Note: Must know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off, and work simple increases and decreases without supervision.

2079 Intermediate Decorative Cast-ons and Bind-offs Let the beauty of your project start at your cast-on and end at your bind-off! We will explore some of my favorite decorative cast-ons and bind-offs including Channel Island, picot, I-cord, disappearing loop, and more. We will look at matching cast-on and bind-off edges. Then for a real bang, learn how to work with a second color. Note: Must know how to work a long-tail cast-on.
Friday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
5275 Intermediate Twice the Fun, Half the Work Learn the fun and time-saving technique of working a pair of socks, sleeves, or wristers in the round, at once! Getting both pieces done at the same time means you'll never suffer from "second syndrome" again! First, we will go over the basics of working in the round with magic loop and with two circulars. Then we'll move on to the specifics of casting on to work the two items with magic loop or two circulars. We'll also go over professional tips for improving the look of your work made in the round.

Note: Must know long-tail cast-on and how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off. Confident enough with Magic Loop to work it without supervision.

Using a simple pattern as a base, we will work through changing a crew-neck to a V-neck, changing the sleeve length, adding waist shaping and more. Learn how working a sweater in a different gauge can be to your advantage. Make every sweater pattern your own!

Note: Must know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off. Should be familiar with sweater knitting, sweater patterns, and have knit a couple of sweaters. Solid knowledge of math of gauge required. Customizing is for flat sweater pieces, not for top down raglan construction.

2050 Easy Best Buttonholes and Button Bands! Are you never happy with your buttonholes? Does the ratio for picking up stitches for the perfect button band elude you? In this workshop we’ll practice a variety of buttonholes including 1-row and 2-row, and my own trick for neatening up the 2-row buttonhole. We'll look at how to make the perfect button band and make sure the cardigan's final step doesn't lead to disappointment. Let's close up those sweaters with pride!
