Thursday 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm Friday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm     SOLD OUT
1335 Intermediate No Yokes About It: Perfecting Fit and Techniques for Your Yoke-patterned Sweater Round yoke sweaters are flattering and quite rewarding to make once you understand the shaping details. We will focus on top-down construction, discuss the different increases and decreases--types, location, and frequency--required to shape the yoke and underarms for a well-fitting sweater.

The first day will cover the techniques, the math behind this type of construction, and ways to customize the fit. If you have swatched a yarn and stitch or color pattern, you are able to plan a custom-fit yoke using Anne's worksheet. Several of your measurements are unique to a well-fitting yoke sweater, so wear a layer if you wish to be measured, and bring your swatch (or work with hypothetical numbers) because stitch and row gauge are equally critical for yokes.

The second day will continue with stitch pattern choices and some basic color theory suggestions to develop and tailor the design to your own personal taste.

Note: Students should have some knowledge of knitting in the round, chart-reading, and know how to knit, purl, and work increases and decreases.
Saturday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Saturday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
1138 Intermediate Inspired Fair Isle: Techniques and Color Inspiration Learn to develop your own unique color stories for Fair Isle designs. Anne will cover basic concepts including the technique of 2-handed stranded knitting and the traditional approach to coloring charted patterns. From there, you will develop a color palette based on your inspiration images, then use it to knit patterned swatches, learning to change pattern and background colors at varying intervals.

The split 6-hour format allows extra time for sampling and testing your plan with a bounty of dyed yarns Anne brings for swatching.

Note: Must have basic skills in knitting and chart-reading, as well as some understanding of working in the round and stranded knitting.
